Carpet 101

      Carpet needs to be purchased as the "whole picture."  Do not purchase carpet based solely on any one characteristic.  Fiber is an integral part of the carpet equation, but it is only one part.  Density, which is comprised of weight and height, and construction are two other parts. 

       If you have heard that "nylon is better than polyester", it is an outdated caveat speaking only of the fibers.  Ever lived in an apartment, or bought a house with builder grade carpet?  Chances are that it had nylon carpet in it.  And it was cheap, in price and quality.  Compare that carpet with today's polyester carpets and you'll know immediately that it's not "just" the fiber.  It's more.  For the technical side, see our carpet tech page.
